A Resounding Success for the Inaugural SOCSKSARGEN Nursing Symposium

The SOCSKSARGEN Nursing Symposium, organized by Beta Nu Delta Nursing Society, Philippine Nurses Association, Philippine Nursing Research Society, Nursing for Humanity, among others, successfully provided a brand new opportunity for nursing professionals to connect and participate in discussions about today’s nursing issues. The Symposium took place 29 May at Robinson's Place in General Santos City.

Over 180 participants attended the one-day event, keen to hear directly from the resource persons who were present to give essential insight into current professional nursing opportunities and challenges. Speakers included Dr. Vilma Comoda (Chief Nurse, Southern Philippines Medical Center), Ian Mariano (Subregional Secretary, Public Services International), Serkranz Espartero (Regional Governor, Philippine Nurses Association), and Dennis Amando (Director-at-Large, Philippine Nursing Research Society and Director for Education, Beta Nu Delta Nursing Society).

Cynthia Rinos, nursing supervisor at General Santos Medical Center, says: “We learned a lot from the symposium."

Another participant who preferred to remain anonymous said "This is an exciting event. We missed this one. We look forward for forthcoming events in the very near future".

"We are thrilled with the first edition of the Symposium and are looking forward to the event in 2017,” according to Mae Duldoco, one of the local organizing team members.
